Often, businesses think that it will take them forever to add new content. They wonder, "Where will this content come from?". Fortunately, there are many sources of content for your website. And the best news is that most of them are completely free. The first source of content is your existing marketing materials. Even though you may need to edit your marketing information to make it appropriate for the website, use it. Why reinvent the wheel? This cross-pollination also creates a uniformity across materials to create your brand. Repurpose your product brochures, manuals and mailings for use as web content. Any issue of your email newsletter can also be fashioned into a webpage on your site.

You may wish to include press releases on your site. If they are exclusively about your company or product, a visitor to the site will see them as primarily marketing material, which they are. It may be more effective to include instead a press release about a product, development or event related to your industry, which would not be seen as self-promotion, rather as informational. This is a good way to build customer trust.

Most sites include Testimonials. These are usually thought of as positive customer feedback. But they can also be written customer feedback surveys that are also turned into web pages.

There are many other sources of web content that are also free. Just a Google or MSN search can yield more content than you can imagine. Just make sure that your searches contain as much detail as possible in the keywords to get an effective search. It is better to enter "What are sources of web content?" rather than just "web content" or "content". So being specific is a very good thing.

Articles are a good source because they are current, topical and timely. You can look through the online news services for articles, such as www.cnn.com or www.msnbc.com. Public libraries also have online services, as do newspapers such as The New York Times. And colleges and universities have their own websites with more scientific and literary articles, if that would appeal to your audience. However, some schools only allow access to students, parents or alumni.

Many publishers allow website owners to syndicate their content via RSS feeds, This content changes constantly. Using this technique allows you to publish up-to-the-minute news headlines that affect your target audience. And this content is keyword specific - even better!

Another engaging source of web content is the interview. Often an expert will agree to be interviewed on your site without a fee in exchange for the recognition and citation. It is even more interesting to include some video of the interview if your marketing budget allows.

Another idea is to include reviews on your site. If you sell home furniture, do ratings of the best mattresses, sofas and tables a la Consumer Reports. You can provide information on makes, models and manufacturers. If you have a general interest website, you can offer reviews of movies, books and other consumer culture interests.

There are even more ways to build content that can easily be added to your website. These are features that the search engines will notice. Add a Calendar of Events. All of the events on your calendar can be individual pages on your website. Lastly, you can have Printable Marketing Brochures that highlight all of the facets of your business that can be made into keyword rich content.
